Adaptec Unveils Data Conditioning Platform Strategy
Company CEO sees increased potential in cloud computing and data center environments, especially in conditioning and optimizing data in the I/O path.
Adaptec Inc., an innovator of I/O solutions, has unveiled its development of methods for routing, optimizing, and protecting data as it moves through the I/O path.†
Called the Adaptec Data Conditioning Platform strategy, Adaptec says this intelligent I/O management approach will enable cloud data centers to lower costs, maximize s
ystem performance, and achieve Green IT objectives without requiring changes to existing storage architectures, application software, or operating systems.
Sundi Sundaresh, Adaptec’s president and CEO, says cloud computing data centers will face ongoing customer and competitive pressure to increase performance and improve operational efficiencies. Adaptec hopes to head this increased demand off at the pass. Sundaresh says, “We believe that by leveraging Adaptec’s core competencies, chiefly our ability to condition and optimize data in the I/O path, we can address these needs.”
Adaptec says its Data Conditioning Platform is designed to “simplify the adoption of new technologies and minimize the risks and performance.” The company aims to provide compatibility with all leading servers, storage devices, and operating systems while also adhering to commercial off-the-shelf hardware standards.
To support its new strategy, Adaptec has also announced the newest product family under its Data Conditioning Platform banner: the Adaptec MaxIQ SSD Cache Performance solution.
The MaxIQ enables building and managing those high-performance hybrid arrays (HPHAs) that combine solid-state drives and hard disk drives. It integrates customized 32 GB Intel(R) X25-E Extreme SATA SSDs with Adaptec’s SSD caching software to accelerate read-intensive applications.
By integrating these latest I/O data path capabilities, Adaptec says it will “reduce capital and operating expenditures.”
