Built-in IP access enables monitoring and control of servers over LAN or Internet.

Tripp Lite, a Chicago-based provider of KVM switches, has introduced a line of switches with built-in IP access. The company’s NetDirector Cat5IP KVM switches enable IT managers to monitor and control multiple server platforms from any distance over LAN or Internet through a standard Web browser or multiplatform client software.

The company has also enhanced security with three-level password protection, remote authentication, and advanced encryption. Cat5/5e/6 cabling reduces clutter in cramped rack enclosures and allows servers to be placed up to 130 feet from the KVM. †The graphical on-screen display has auto-scanning features and a panel array mode designed to make server management tasks quick and convenient. And the compact 1U rackmount form factor with 16 or 32 ports scales to access up to 128 or 256 servers from a single console (keyboard, mouse, and monitor).

“Server management is a critical function of any enterprise business,” says David Posner, Tripp Lite Cables and Connectivity product manager. “If one server has a problem, production can slow to a standstill. Our new NetDirector Cat5 IP KVM Switches give IT managers BIOS-level access from anywhere in the world, allowing them to avoid most problems before they happen and fix unavoidable problems before they hurt the bottom line.”

Three models are available and ready for shipment:

  • B064-016-04-IP – 16 ports; 5 simultaneous users (1 local and 4 remote)
  • B064-032-02-IP – 32 ports; 3 simultaneous users (1 local and 2 remote)
  • B064-032-04-IP – 32 ports; 5 simultaneous users (1 local and 4 remote)
