Internet service provider j2 Global Inc. has acquired Excel Micro Inc., the Philadelphia-based distributor of cloud email security and archiving solutions. The acquisition expands j2’s U.S. and Canadian email security customer base, reseller channels, and channel expertise.
“This acquisition reflects our ongoing efforts to expand and grow our email security business on a global basis, both organically and through acquisitions,” says j2’s CEO Hemi Zucker. “Excel Micro brings j2 an established brand, customer base, strong partners, distribution channel, and a talented team.”

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed and the financial impact to j2 is not expected to be material.
