Equus Computer Systems Delivers 1.5U Server with Data Transfer Rates of 12 GiB/s

The company’s new server increases storage density while decreasing footprint and operational expenses.

Equus Computer Systems Inc., a manufacturer of custom hardware solutions, has launched a new 1.5U server featuring two drive drawers, each supporting eight 3.5-inch hot-swappable SAS/SATA hard drives and delivering up to 160TB of drive storage in a compact form factor. The server also supports two internal 2.5-inch SSD drives, enabling it to scale out to 16 data drives.

With data transfer rates of up to 12 gigabits per second (GiB/s), Equus’ new 1.5U server is designed for those looking to increase storage density while optimizing data center rack space and improving efficiency. According to the company, the server can accommodate 33 percent more drives than a typical 2U server, while using 25 percent less rack space. The availability of two drive drawers enables users to remove a failed drive without bringing the server down.

Equus offers custom configurations of the 1.5U server and can conform to any type of customer networking requirements.†The server uses the latest Intel XeonProcessor E5-2600 v4 family and current LSI/Broadcom controllers with cache backup.
