Tech Data Corp. has added two new Infrastructure-as-a-Service offerings to its lineup of cloud solutions for SMBs.
Both new offerings were announced in conjunction with the Clearwater, Fla.-based distributor’s Channel Link partner conference, which is currently underway in Washington D.C.
The first of the new solutions, called the Small Business Cloud Server and delivered via Microsoft’s Azure public cloud, is designed to provide cloud resellers serving SMBs a scalable, flexible, easily deployed platform for hosting integrated IT environments combining Microsoft Office 365 software with backup, storage, and VPN functionality, as well as an optional remote access component.
“Small and medium-sized businesses are now starting to embrace the cloud with real enthusiasm,” said Michael Urban, the executive responsible for Tech Data’s global cloud strategy, in a press statement.
“Many users have already migrated to Microsoft Office 365, and there is a massive opportunity now for resellers to move small business servers onto the Microsoft Azure platform,” he added. “The Tech Data Small Business Cloud Server makes it easy for resellers to help them take that next step—and to take the burden of applications and security management off their small business customers as well.”
The new service, sold through Tech Data’s StreamOne cloud marketplace, is available in packages sized for 1-6 users, 7-20 users, and over 40 users. Partners can set usage thresholds and limits in advance if desired.
Tech Data also introduced a new offering aimed at helping businesses optimize their consumption of reserved instances on the Amazon Web Services public cloud. Named the AWS RI Optimization Managed Service, it’s delivered via the distributor’s Technology Solutions unit, formerly known as Avnet Technology Solutions. Tech Data completed its acquisition of Avnet Technology Solutions earlier this year.
A new Marketplace Premium package that enables AWS resellers to create white-label storefronts, build customized cloud solutions, and offer time-limited trials of cloud solutions to customers also debuted today.
“Our AWS cloud offerings are now stronger than ever,” said Stacy Nethercoat, vice president for cloud computing in the Americas at Tech Data, in prepared remarks. “Technology Solutions’ Cloud Marketplace continues to be a one-stop shop for AWS solutions from leading service providers, along with flexible payment models and a powerful cloud management toolset.”
