Sharp Introduces New Line of Color Multifunction Printers

New Advanced and Essentials Series models aim to accelerate AI with new voice control features, greater cloud integration, and enhanced security.

Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America, a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation, introduced a new line of Advanced and Essentials Series color document systems for the technology-driven workplace. The eleven new models include seven that are available now, and four models that will be available in early summer 2019. All of those units offer Sharp’s touchscreen display, which is common across 30+ models in the manufacturer’s multifunction printer lineup, and add new features for conversational AI, cloud integration, and security enhancements.

The new MFP Voice feature, powered by Amazon Alexa, enables users to interact with the machine via simple verbal commands. The color models are also designed to integrate with today’s complex network environments and offer quick access to an expanded list of cloud services that includes Box and Dropbox. Additionally, Adobe Embedded Print Engine technology enables users to print PDF files directly from a variety of sources with greater performance and rendering accuracy. Sharp’s new Application Portal, available in spring 2019, will allow administrators to add new applications and update existing ones from the printer’s touchscreen.

The new models are equipped with enhanced productivity features, such as the ability to feed up to 50 envelopes from the standard paper drawer. Additionally, the new color Advanced and Essentials Series deliver security features, such as a firmware attack prevention component and a self-recovery capability, which can identify a malicious intrusion and restore the machine firmware to its original state. A new whitelisting feature helps protects the machine’s file system from unauthorized access. Administrators can also centrally manage select device-level settings using Active Directory group policies.

“This is an exciting time at Sharp, as we roll out a new line of color workgroup MFPs that offer greater integration, enhanced workflow capability, and voice integration to meet the demands of today’s technology-driven workplace,” said†Shane Coffey, vice president of product management for Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America, in a prepared remark. “Our focus continues to be to provide quality MFPs that deliver superior productivity, performance and ease-of-use. We’re proud to continue that tradition with this new lineup of color Advanced and Essentials series models.”

The following seven models are available to ship immediately via authorized Sharp dealer and direct sales channels:

Advanced Series:

  • MX-3071†– 30 ppm; replaces the MX-3070V
  • MX-3571†– 35 ppm; replaces the MX-3570V
  • MX-4071†– 40 ppm; replaces the MX-4070V

Essentials Series:

  • MX-4051†– 40 ppm; replaces the MX-4050V

Sharp will add four more models to the lineup coming in early summer 2019. In the Advanced Series, the MX-5071 and MX-6071 replace the MX-5070V and MX-6070V. Rounding out the Essentials Series will be the MX-5051 and MX-6051, replacing the MX-5050V and MX-6050V.
