Egnyte Ships Vertical Industry, Compliance, and Ransomware Solutions

The new offerings include customized packages for businesses in the architecture, engineering, and construction industries and organizations bound by CMMC requirements, as well as a new snapshot-based ransomware recovery service.

Egnyte has expanded its lineup of content collaboration, security, and governance solutions for MSPs. 

The new offerings include customized packages for businesses in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries, a managed service for organizations bound by the federal government’s CMMC regulation, and a new snapshot-based ransomware recovery service.

The AEC solution supplements Egynte’s standard platform with functionality for viewing CAD drawings of blueprints and other large files on a laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Useful to channel pros with existing clients in the AEC verticals, the system is also an easy way for newcomers to get started in those markets, according to Eric Anthony, Egnyte’s director of MSP community and partner enablement.

“It gives them a gateway into that vertical and allows them to start selling a specific solution,” he says.

Earlier industry-specific packages include one for life sciences organizations designed to give clinical research organizations a centralized, secure place to store biostats, imaging, sequencing data, and other large files. Packages tailored to other industries are in development, according to Anthony, who declined to provide specifics.

All of Egnyte’s vertical industry solutions are optional add-ons billed, like the company’s core service, on a per user, per month basis, with volume discounts available.

Like the life sciences solution, Egnyte’s new CMMC service is delivered by in-house specialists familiar with regulatory compliance requirements and deployment best practices. 

“We actually sell that with our expertise, so that the MSP doesn’t really have to know the CMMC pieces to be able to sell the package,” Anthony says.

Egnyte shipped an earlier CMMC solution in May. While that one was offered only through direct sales with MSPs, the company says, the new one is also available through certified resellers.

CMMC requirements apply to every organization in the “Defense Industrial Base,” a collection of more than 300,000 businesses that contribute to the design, development, production, delivery, and maintenance of weapon systems, subsystems, and components. Though the Department of Defense simplified CMMC last November, fully meeting its rules can be time-consuming. Egnyte says that its CMMC solution shortens that process by up to 50%.

CMMC guidelines are currently expected to begin going into effect next May. Egnyte has compliance features and services for companies subject to HIPAA, PCI-DSS, GDPR, and other mandates as well. 

Egnyte’s new ransomware recovery feature lets businesses roll back an entire collection of encrypted files to a pre-attack snapshot with a single click. “Basically, it’s like a backup that happens every four hours so that you can then restore the entire file system if you need to in a matter of minutes,” Anthony explains. 

That’s less time than typically required when restoring from a BDR solution, he adds. “It’s much faster because it’s native to the file system.”

Like the AEC package, ransomware recovery is billed monthly as an add-on to the Egnyte platform. It is available for all but the company’s entry-level Business plan.

Egynte enhanced its MSP partner program in May, adding dedicated pricing and packages; a new team of solution engineers, marketing support assistants, account managers, and professional service providers; and an expanded partner portal offering access to co-branded marketing materials, sales playbooks, training tracks, and more.
