Cisco Introduces Centralized Security Management Solution: Page 2 of 2

Called SecureX and scheduled to enter general availability in June, the new system is designed to ease the challenges of operating multiple security products with separate administrative interfaces and little inter-platform coordination. By Rich Freeman

An earlier product called Cisco Threat Response was the vendor’s first attempt to address that problem, and also the inspiration for SecureX. Introduced two years ago, Threat Response provides integrated detection, investigation, and remediation capabilities for multiple Cisco products.

“It’s the fastest growing product line we’ve ever introduced,” Munroe says. “The customer satisfaction scores, the responses we get, are incredible.”

That enthusiasm isn’t surprising, he continues, given the larger, industry-wide trend among security vendors in recent years to release point products every time they identify a new need or risk.

“This vicious cycle has meant the need for more people to manage [security products] because that complexity’s too great,” Munroe observes, noting that 28% of respondents to Cisco’s 2020 CISO Benchmark Study agreed that managing a multi-vendor environment is very challenging, up eight points from the previous year’s survey.
