CRU DataHarbor Adds Hardware-Based Encryption to Backup SMBs

CRU-DataPort’s new device is designed for network backup and disaster recovery.

Having some type of backup system always seems like a bit of an afterthought — until you get zapped, of course. CRU-DataPort’s DataHarbor makes the backup option a little easier, as well as unique.

Designed specifically for small businesses, the CRU DataHarbor is a new network backup and disaster recovery device. First and foremost, it protects all of that important data, in case of an emergency. After all, if disaster does strike, it can be even more of a nightmare (a costly one!) without some type of backup plan.

However, one of the hooks on this solution is that it also has hardware-based encryption to keep all of your precious property safe and sound on a daily basis.

CRU DataHarbor says that the company actually designed this product using input from small business owners and their IT suppliers. They even tapped into a variety of respondents from different industries, such as healthcare, legal, finance, government, and more. In other words, this thing should work for almost any application.

It also has a ton of nifty features, including compliance with HIPPA, Sarbanes-Oxley, and other regulatory and confidentiality requirements. What that means is that all of the data on these drives should be well protected. That way, users can only access these drives with the proper physical key, meaning that confidential client, patient, and business data is kept confidential and safe.

The CRU DataHarbor also has two rugged, removable storage devices. The DataPort 10 secure removable carriers can create hardware-encrypted backup copies of a computer environment to establish a drive rotation, which basically means you’ll always have at least one backup copy offsite.

Oh, and if you don’t think this type of system is good enough for your business, maybe you can ask someone that works in Hollywood or even the government. After all, this is the same type of CRU tech that both of those industries use to distribute movies and keep data safe — and in the case of the government, it’s used in the field and in hostile environments.

According to CRU DataPort, the DataHarbor device is selling right now with a starting price of $1,599.
