Checkmarx’s annual Future of Application Security report reveals security awareness is at an all-time high, execution is not and AI is widening the gap.

- While 96% of developers said they have AI tooling in their IDEs, only 18% said they apply security continuously as they write code.

While OT security is maturing, risk is not slowing
Fortinet’s 2026 State of OT and Cybersecurity Report illustrates why visibility, segmentation and integrated security are essential.
Key findings from the report include:
- 60% of respondents said the CISO has ultimate responsibility for OT cybersecurity. Plus, 81% of respondents planned to assign OT cybersecurity to the CISO within the next year.
- 71% of respondents reported between one and nine intrusions, up from 47% the previous year.
- Only 24% of respondents said both IT and OT systems experienced intrusions, down sharply from 60% in 2025.
- Phishing was the most reported intrusion at 76%, while ransomware was still a major concern at 50%.
Netwrix 2026 Data and Identity Security Report: AI adoption outpaces AI readiness, driving a 4x breach gap

Only 11% of organizations reported full AI security readiness. Another 17% remained entirely unprepared and 45% were still developing governance programs.
Key findings from the report include:
- Breach rates reached 43% during the past 12 months among organizations where AI significantly expanded the number of identities requiring access. That compared with 11% where AI had not materially changed access patterns.
- 76% of organizations said they do not fully govern or monitor nonhuman identities.
- 75% of sensitive data exposures began with compromised identities or misconfigured permissions.
- 74% of organizations said they lack a unified view of sensitive data and the identities that can access it.
