Corsair Adds Two New SSDs to Its Force Series GT Line

The solid 180 GB and 240 GB solid state drives join their 60 GB and 120 GB counterparts, appealing to enthusiast system builders.

The solid 180 GB and 240 GB solid state drives join their 60 GB and 120 GB counterparts, appealing to enthusiast system builders.

Components manufacturer Corsair announced two new Force Series GT solid state drives (SSDs) this week. The new models are being offered in 180 GB and 240 GB models. These new products join their 60 GB and 120 GB counterparts.

Corsair Adds Two New SSDs to Its Force Series GT LineAccording to Corsair, the Force Series GT is designed for enthusiasts looking for “the fastest performance available.” In a press release submitted to Channel Pro-SMB, the company says its Force Series GT line “delivers outstanding read/write performance and significantly faster system response, boot times, and application load times than SATA 2 solid-state drives.”

The SSDs employ the SandForce SF-2280 SSD Processor, with native support for SATA 6 Gb/s (SATA 3) combined with ONFI synchronous flash memory. They offer up to 85K Random Write IOPS, read speeds of up to 555 MB/s, and write speeds of up to 525 MB/s.

“The use of synchronous flash memory makes the Force GT Series particularly adept at reading and writing non-compressible data, such as video and music files,” the Corsair press release adds.

All Force Series GT models are backward compatible with SATA 2, and include a 3.5-inch adapter for use in both laptop and desktop PCs.

The new Force Series GT SSD models are available from authorized distributors and retailers worldwide at a suggested retail price of $379 for the 180 GB model, and $489 for the 240 GB model.
