VMworld goodies from VMware, AI news from Microsoft and TD SYNNEX, an alliance between Liongard and SonicWall, and an arena full of Elvises are among the many stories coming your way just in time for the weekend.

Sure, nearly a 100 million citizens, crushed by a heat dome stretching from Mexico to Canada with the U.S. stuck in the sandwich, are sweating and cursing the heat. Sure, you lost your shoe when the asphalt in the parking lot became black glue. Sure, you have third degree burns on your hands from your steering wheel and seat-belt latch. But none of that matters, because pumpkin spice is back at Starbucks! Feel better now?

This week’s stats ticker:

New research from the analysts at Canalys forecast the worldwide IT market will grow 3.5% to reach $4.7 trillion dollars this year. Partner-delivered IT technologies and services (aka the channel) will top $3.4 trillion dollars in 2023, or more than 70% of the total. North America accounts for 37.7% of the market, even though growth is down to 2.8% this year from 8.5% in 2022. Cybersecurity will remain a key growth area, increasing by 11.1% to $79 billion. Generative AI will create further consulting opportunities, and with public cloud spending and cybersecurity posture transformation will contribute to IT services spending expanding by 7.5% to $1.5 trillion. While server and storage devices are expecting flat or negative growth, AI servers will be a bright spot.

The first annual report from Cynomi, “The State of the Virtual CISO 2023,” forecasts the number of vCISO service providers will increase by 480% between now and the end of next year. Some 19% of MSPs and MSSPs in North America offer vCISO services currently and that will grow to 86% by the close of 2024. Over 200 MSPs and MSSPs responded, and just 1% say they have no plans to offer vCISO services to customers. More than 40% anticipate increased revenue and higher margins thanks to these services.

Elvis ArmyElvis Army. Ready for some happy news? This entry from Augusta, Maine, and the Augusta Civic Center, may qualify. In an attempt to break the Guiness World Record and for the 50th anniversary of the civic center, Augusta will host the largest gathering of Elvis impersonators ever.

Elvis performed one time in Maine at, you guessed it, the Augusta Civic Center. Even if they don’t break the record, the gathering of collected food and personal hygiene donations for local service agencies will show their Burning Love.

Thank yew, thank yew vurry much.
