ICYMI: Our Channel News Roundup for the Week of September 26th

New apps from Salesforce, Slack, and NetSuite, an EDR update from Kaspersky, a new title for N-able’s Mike Cullen, and a Happy Meal for grown-ups (toy and all) are among the stories we waited and waited and waited to tell you about until just now.

Whoever’s managing the global processor, please stop the runaway threads of tropical storms and hurricanes. It’s one thing to let a thread consume a few extra resources, but quite another to let it run loose across an entire state and aim for more. Stop that process and relax with these nice, dry newsbits, then help those affected, please.

GenieNews from big-time business app makers. Slack innovations abound with Salesforce Customer 360 integrations like the ability to access Salesforce Customer 360 data directly within Slack, more huddles including video, and the first wave of Slack Partner Industry Solutions.

Salesforce rubbed the right lamp, and the Genie that sprang forth (pictured in, um, rabbit ears) is a real-time CRM data platform that makes every part of Customer 360 real time as well.

ServiceNow announced its Now Platform Tokyo release, with enterprise asset management, supplier lifecycle management, and more.

Oracle NetSuite innovations include an AP automation tool, new configure, price, and quote goodies, and better ways to streamline scheduling, time tracking, and wages.

KnowBe4 CARASecurity news. The updated Kaspersky EDR Optimum adds advanced automated detection, better protects crucial OS files, and pulls information on file reputation from Kaspersky’s Threat Intelligence portal.

Smart software got smarter as Fortinet’s FortiAIOps now tracks metrics across SD-WAN, wired and wireless LANs, and 5G/LTE gateways, along with a few other clever things.

In the constant battle to keep personal medical information away from cyber miscreants, KnowBe4 has a new version of its Compliance Audit Readiness Assessment (CARA) covering the HIPAA Security Rule to address healthcare privacy requirements.

MSPs can now leverage NetWitness as a fully outsourced model, combining technology, training, and MDR in a single offering.

Illumio Endpoint offers a new way to prevent endpoint ransomware and other badness from spreading to clouds and beyond.

Cowbell just rolled out Adaptive Cyber Insurance offering a dynamic approach to cover constantly changing risk, and launched the Cowbell Specialty Insurance Company.

ViewSonic OmniHardware news. Retiring legacy IT hardware can be a maze of sustainability. e-waste, and security concerns, but Dell Technologies Asset Recovery Services can help make it convenient and simple.

Samsung now offers the rugged duo of its Galaxy XCover6 Pro phone and Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro tablet in the U.S., both with 5G and tough enough to stand up to field work day in and out.

Faster is always better, right, so look for the new Zyxel 2.5 Gig WAN and LAN Wi-Fi 6 Ethernet gateways for providers and get ready for the ever-increasing data demands of your customers.

The hardware boffins at Supermicro have over 20 new NVIDIA-certified systems optimized for the NVIDIA H100 GPU, including some that boost AI training performance by up to 9x. But wait, there’s more! The new Supermicro OVX server is a second-generation system powered by the also new NVIDIA L40 GPU.

Every network addressable device is a target today, but you can worry about one less endpoint with the Epson WorkForce Enterprise family of MFPs and their new Buyers Lab (BLI) Security Validation seal for device penetration.

When you look up from your Epson printer, you might see an image from the new Epson EpiqVision Flex CO-FHO2 Smart Portable Projector or the CO-WO1 version. Or feast your eyes (sorry) on the new Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS800 4K POR-UHD Ultra-Short Throw 3-Chip 3LCD Smart Streaming Laser Projector.

The new ViewSonic OMNI VX2416 and VX2716 monitors (pictured) provide beginner and casual gamers low response times and AMD FreeSync for smooth visuals.

Lexmark’s Certified CarbonNeutral single and multi-function laser printers are now available in the Lexmark GO Line of smaller footprint devices.

Mike CullenNon-product vendor news. Updated business cards are on the way for Mike Cullen (pictured) at N-able as he moves up to general manager of RMM.

The red carpet unfurled at Veeam for Rick Jackson as he joins as chief marketing officer.

The Welcome Wagon visited John Trauth at Optiv in his new role as general manager of Optiv Federal.

Remember when Xvantage, Ingram Micro’s new “digital experience,” shipped in the U.S. and Germany? Well, it’s in Canada now too.

The Elevate global partner program at Nutanix now has expanded incentives to provide a better experience for partners and end users across the customer lifecycle.

Value added tech solutions distributor and cloud services brokerage Jenne added Aryaka’s SD-WAN and SASE solutions to its catalog.

UPSTACK acquired Digital Planet Communications, a telecom and technology agency in St. Paul, Minn. Terms were not disclosed.

This week’s stats ticker:

CompTIA’s “SMB Tech Buying Trends” surveyed 650 U.S. companies with fewer than 250 employees and found their focus is now on hiring skilled tech workers (39%) and innovating and implementing new ideas (38%), up from 25% and 26% respectively last year. Eight in 10 were positive about the health of their business, with 51% holding steading and 30% actually thriving. 53% say they’re very or somewhat optimistic about prospects, while 60% express optimism for their own companies. Almost half, 48%, believe spending is too low or too high for various reasons. Annual spending on technology falls within the range of $10,000 to $250,000 for two-thirds of the respondents.

Happy MealMcStalgia. Consumer marketing specialists from Mad Men until now know that nostalgia sells, including hamburgers and fries. This may explain why McDonald’s is now selling Happy Meals to adults, but in a new way. Don’t worry, you still get toys.

In a deal with streetwear brand Cactus Plant Flea Market, the young-at-heart can order a Big Mac or McNuggets, fries, and a drink in a Cactus branded box. The toys are famous McDonald’s mascots from the past, which you can try to explain to your children.
