Kaseya Integrates RocketCyber Managed SOC Service with PSA and IAM Solutions

The new functionality is one item on a long list of updates and integrations for the company’s RMM, PSA, security, BDR, and other MSP solutions.

Kaseya has rolled out upgrades and integrations for its expanding lineup of management, security, and other solutions for MSPs and their customers.

Chief among the updates are new connections among Kaseya’s RocketCyber managed SOC service, BMS professional services automation system, and Passly identity and access management solution. 

MSPs that use all three products now get round-the-clock monitoring of Passly from RocketCyber. If RocketCyber sees evidence of malicious activity, the service automatically adds a ticket to BMS.

Kaseya acquired RocketCyber for an undisclosed sum in February, and simultaneously announced an integration between that company’s platform and its VSA remote monitoring and management solution.

Additional integrations between RocketCyber and Kaseya products are slated to arrive this summer. One will automatically send alerts to RocketCyber analysts any time Dark Web ID, from Kaseya’s ID Agent unit, finds credentials stolen from an MSP’s customers on the cybercrime black market. A second will automatically notify RocketCyber whenever Kaseya’s Graphus email security platform detects a threat. RocketCyber analysts will then triage the issue at no additional cost.

Protection from RocketCyber for Kaseya’s IT Glue documentation platform is coming soon as well. “We’re going to be monitoring IT Glue for malicious log-ins, password activity, and permission changes,” says Kaseya CMO Mike Puglia. “We’ll be watching that 24/7 and it will go right to our SOC analysts.”

Shielding MSP line-of-business products like VSA, BMS, and IT Glue from escalating threat activity is an ongoing priority for Kaseya made even more urgent by the recent SolarWinds Orion hack.

New functionality in VSA unveiled today lets MSPs discover virtual servers on host machines running VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V and then add them to network topology maps. The feature is designed to reduce response times on support incidents involving VMs by providing a fuller picture of a customer’s environment. Until now, technicians could see physical hosts alone.

Additional new functionality in VSA now lets administrators troubleshoot and resolve issues remotely on Linux endpoints. Though most Kaseya partners are “Windows-first” organizations, according Puglia, Linux devices are appearing on customer networks in growing numbers, especially as those companies migrate workloads into the cloud. Linux-based instances are often cheaper than Windows equivalents in public cloud platforms, he notes.

Both the Linux feature and the virtual machine discovery functionality are recent steps in the evolution of Unified Remote Monitoring and Management, the RMM framework Kaseya announced in January. When fully in place, Unified RMM will enable technicians to manage cloud solutions, Internet of Things devices, and mobile hardware through the same interface they use to manage traditional endpoints and networking gear.

Kaseya will soon supplement the support for on-premises VMs it introduced today with support for cloud-based virtual machines.

A further enhancement available in VSA immediately draws on password information in IT Glue to let technicians initiate remote control sessions with a single click. Earlier one-click functionality employed temporary credentials when accessing devices. Now technicians can select from a list of existing user and administrator passwords instead. “I get to pick which credentials I want to use,” Puglia says. “I don’t have to cut and paste or try to type it out.”

Smaller enhancements introduced today affect ID Agent’s BullPhish security awareness training solution and the email security solution Kaseya acquired with Graphus last August. The BullPhish update lets MSPs supplement the system’s generic fake emails with customized messages tailored to a specific client’s industry and business processes. 

The new Graphus feature uses behavior-based technology to spot business email compromise messages sent to one employee via a second employee’s compromised account. Email security solutions that route messages through an external gateway are typically powerless against such exploits, Puglia notes, because the attack never exits the customer’s Office 365 or Google Workspace tenant.

A further update announced today expands the capabilities of Kaseya’s compliance management tool for businesses subject to the federal government’s Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) process. The new functionality adds support for the NIST 800-171 interim rule as well as level 3 assessments. The system already supported level 1 and 2 assessments.

The CMMC is designed to help contractors and subcontractors that serve the Department of Defense on weapons-related projects protect “controlled unclassified information.” According to Puglia, Kaseya is receiving mounting requests for help with CMMC from its partners. All 300,000 organizations that contribute to the design, development, production, and maintenance of weapon systems will be required to obtain the CMMC and clear a third-party audit by October 1, 2025.

A new integration for Kaseya Compliance Manager allows VSA users to send information directly to that product rather than input the same data in multiple places. A second new integration enables BMS users to get billing updates automatically after compliance scans.

In other updates announced today:

  • The lineup of devices from Kaseya’s Unitrends unit now includes a high-speed BDR appliance called the Gen 9 MAX. Subscription pricing is available for the new system. 
  • The Network Glue network management solution can now discover and document Active Directory security groups. The new feature enables technicians to check Active Directory user permissions inside IT Glue instead of navigating to their Active Directory server.  
  • Users can now share documents in the MyGlue Help Center with select MyGlue accounts. 
  • IT Glue and MyGlue users can now segment off configuration, password, document, and flexible asset documentation that’s no longer needed but shouldn’t be deleted.
  • IT Glue and GlueConnect users can now receive instant notifications every time a sensitive password is accessed or copied.
  • Users of Network Glue and VSA can now view and filter agents on the network diagram by status, to see which ones are online or offline easily.
