The IoTSSA Cyber Security Expo teed up today at TopGolf in Centennial, Colo. Free for MSPs and IT professionals, the one-day event is the fifth of seven expos being held this year by the IoT Security Services Association, a community of IT channel partners.
Sheila Phillips, managing director of IoTSSA, spoke to attendees about the continuing growth of the expos.
The keynote speaker was Tim Brown, vice president of security at managed services software maker SolarWinds MSP, of Durham, N.C., who talked about securing those who don’t believe they need to be secured†and how MSPs should respond. He provided advice for specific vertical industries on overcoming common objections to security spending as well.
The event also included a penetration testing demo showing the anatomy of a hack; exclusive IoT content and security services research from CompTIA; an MSP panel discussion of challenges and successes in building a security practice; and a security expert panel discussion on building out a security stack and how to position services.
In addition, attendees were introduced to the new IoT Playbook, an IoTSSA community media partner and a sister brand of ChannelPro.
The day ended with happy hour and optional golf.
Upcoming expos will be at the local TopGolf locations in Scottsdale, Ariz., on October 11, and Atlanta on December 6.
