ADTRAN’s Mosaic Cloud Platform Now Available

The Mosaic Cloud Platform’s open microservices architecture provides network management and SDN control for the entire access network.

ADTRAN Inc., a provider of next-generation open networking solutions, has released its Mosaic Cloud Platform, designed to provide control and orchestration for the company’s Mosaic Software Defined Access (SD-Access) architecture. The Mosaic Cloud Platform combines modular apps that have been in a microservices software architecture with open source control and orchestration platforms to deliver open, SDN-based programmability of broadband access networks, while maintaining the feature set and functionality of traditional management solutions. †

“Open source software drives quick industry consensus for what is needed in control and orchestration platforms, including flexibility across multi-technology and multi-vendor network environments,” says Michael Howard, senior research director and advisor, carrier networks, IHS Markit Technology. “Platforms such as the ADTRAN Mosaic Cloud Platform are essential to carriers as they transition to more automation and service agility in order to engage customers via self-service portals. This transition will enable subscribers to easily customize broadband services based on their own unique requirements. SD-Access networks will not only support the self-directed subscriber, but make it easier for the service provider to manage broadband traffic loads across the network while reducing truck rolls and operational expenses.”

The Mosaic Cloud Platform provides on-demand provisioning of services, applications, and resources across the entire access network from cloud-edge to subscriber-edge. The modular, component-based management and control applications enable service providers to deploy and upgrade services to all subscribers and/or network elements on the network at the same time. These capabilities allow customers to deploy services at the network level instead of having to manually provision services on the device or subscriber level.

“The Mosaic Cloud Platform’s open microservices architecture enables our customers to better align network operations and IT development teams while operating their networks at Web scale, streamlining service innovation, and capturing additional subscriber mindshare and revenue. ADTRAN Mosaic also enables our service provider customers to leverage the vast open source market to reduce service disruption and deploy new applications while maintaining a high quality of service,” says Robert Conger, associate vice president, cloud and portfolio strategy, ADTRAN.
