While no release date has been set, ASRock plans to launch four new Killer Series gaming motherboards – Z87 Killer, B85 Killer, 990FX Killer and FM2A88X+ Killer. Apart from the fast Killer LAN that speeds up networking performances up to 5 times faster, this time ASRock has also added more elements into the game, the first motherboard to have a PCIe Gen2 x2/SATA M.2 socket (990FX Killer).
Motherboard with a PCIe Gen2 x2/SATA M.2 socket: 990FX Killer
The onboard M.2 socket is a new interface for connecting Next Generation Form Factor (NGFF) solid state drives or other devices. ASRock’s 990FX Killer supports M.2 SATA3 6.0Gb/s modules and M.2 PCI Express modules up to Gen2 x2 10Gb/s , which is 2X faster compared to other M.2 Gen2 x1 solutions that are limited to 5 Gb/s.
Other features of the Killer Series real gaming motherboards include Premium Gold Capacitors, Digi Power, Purity Sound 115dB SNR, Gaming Armor, Key Master, F-Stream and XSplit 3 month premium license for free.
The FM2+ motherboard for gamers: FM2A88X+ Killer
ASRock FM2A88X+ Killer doesn’t possess the same feature sets like the rest of the Killer Series. Not only does it support FM2 APUs, but also FM2+ Kaveri APUs, so that users may have a taste of PCIe 3.0. The motherboard also has Premium Gold Capacitors and Digi Power for providing smooth voltages to the CPU Vcore. It features 4 slots of dual channel DDR3 that supports up to 2600+MHz, triple monitor by the HDMI, DVI-D and D-Sub connectors on the rear i/o, a total of 8 SATA3 connectors, and a Fatal1ty mouse port.
