Storage virtualization developer DataCore Software introduced this week its SANsymphony-V Monitoring Pack for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager. The new offering enables SMBs to monitor and manage the diverse storage assets virtualized by SANsymphony-V alongside other facets of their data center from System Center.

DataCore Introduces SANsymphony-V Monitoring Pack for System CenterThe DataCore SANsymphony-V storage hypervisor unifies advanced services like provisioning, auto-tiering, replication, and performance acceleration. It does so via a common storage virtualization layer.

The SANsymphony-V Monitoring Pack brings visibility into the health, performance, and availability of the virtualized storage resources in System Center. The combined solution encompasses both on-premise and cloud-based, off-premise components, including redundant high-availability elements and those in remote disaster recovery sites.

Information appears on a “single pane of glass” alongside other facets of the data center, with the goal of simplifying end-to-end service management of diverse storage environments.

“Customers with mission-critical systems depend on Microsoft System Center to manage across their physical and virtualized environments,” explains Andrew Conway, Microsoft System Center’s director of product management. “The DataCore SANsymphony-V Monitoring Pack for Operations Manager is designed to give these customers the ability to monitor their virtualized storage infrastructure.”

DataCore’s SANsymphony-V Monitoring Pack easily integrates with System Center Operations Manager 2007 and System Center Operations Manager 2010. The product enables:

  • Central monitoring of heterogeneous disk farms from the System Center Operations Manager console.
  • End-to-end service management of diverse storage equipment.
  • Health analysis of the system and its key components.
  • Immediate detection of any abnormal conditions.
  • Isolation of trouble spots.
  • Identification of problem sources and potential solutions.
  • Performance trend visuals.
  • Capacity consumption tracking.

DataCore complements Microsoft’s virtualization via the native capabilities of Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server Hyper-V technologies.

“Since its inception, DataCore has been leveraging Microsoft Windows Server as the platform of choice for development and innovation of storage virtualization technologies,” said Carlos Carreras, DataCore’s vice president of alliances and business development. “The latest integration into System Center makes the combination even more compelling for customers using our SANsymphony-V storage hypervisor to build out their private clouds.”

The SANsymphony-V Monitoring Pack for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager is available immediately.
