Remote management software developer broadens its Monitor software to support alternative platforms to VMware.
Open source remote management software developer op5 has upgraded its op5 Monitor product. The software comes with support for monitoring of VMware and, now, support for KVM and Xen virtualization platforms as well.
“VMware is the dominant provider of virtualization platforms,” states op5 in a press release submitted to Channel Pro-SMB, “and op5 Monitor supported out-of-the-box monitoring of VMware for many years.” Now, the company says, it is adding support for the monitoring of KVM and XEN platforms “without additional charge.”
“The alternative platforms KVM and Xen are now gaining momentum with increasing number of implementations,” states op5, “and therefore op5 is now including support.”
One of the major challenges for SMB clients is the diminished network visibility that comes with virtual environments. The op5 Monitor product provides managed services providers with a tool that provides a view to the entire infrastructure, including both virtual environments and physical networks. With op5 Monitor, MSPs can monitor the virtualization hypervisor and host as well as the virtual machine’s applications, physical servers, and network devices.
Features of op5 Monitor include:
- VM Availability Tracking
- Performance Monitoring via Metrics (i.e., CPU & Memory Utilization)
- Disk Usage Monitoring
- Network Usage Monitoring
- Virtual Machine Identification, Listing, and Monitoring
- Availability and SLA Performance Reporting
- Built-In Alerting
- Support for VMware, KVM and Xen†
