New Network Discovery Tool Designed for Mid-to-Large Enterprises

Ipswitch’s WhatsConnected 3.0 is a combination of network discovery and asset management.

Ipswitch’s network management division, developer of the WhatsUp Gold suite, is now offering WhatsConnected 3.0, the newest version of the Layer 2/3 discovery tool designed for mid-to-large enterprises, as well as version 14.4 of its flagship WhatsUp Gold IT management suite.

WhatsConnected, which is available both as a standalone product and as a plug-in for WhatsUp Gold, allows an organization to automatically discover, map, inventory and document its entire IT infrastructure. WhatsConnected allows IT teams to visualize how everything in a network is connected, including software, operating systems, applications and hardware.

WhatsConnected 3.0 offers multiple features, including:

  • Dynamic refreshing of maps – automatically finds and maps changes; provides accurate, up-to-date topology views.
  • Microsoft Windows inventory and reporting – gathers, filters and exports system information.
  • Customizable device and group filters – provides flexibility to see devices based on specified criteria.
  • Granular discovery and scanning – collects detailed or basic information more quickly.

WhatsUp Gold (WUG) uses cryptology level Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2. And now, WUG 14.4 automatically detects FIPS 140-2 validated operating systems to strengthen network security. In addition, WUG 14.4 supports Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) as its default Web server.
