StrandVision Digital Signage Debuts Emergency Communications Services
New “Emergency Schedule” feature enables user-created emergency notifications that are both location-specific and immediately deployed to all or select screens.
StrandVision LLC, a provider of hosted digital signage services in Menomonie, Wis., announced a new emergency notification feature that is included with all of its paid subscription packages. Called “Emergency Schedule,” the feature enables administrators to create immediate or preset emergency notification content that can be recalled and activated for distribution over the StrandVision digital signage network within minutes, according to the company.
The new emergency notification feature has application at schools and colleges, industrial and commercial operations, as well as retail and healthcare facilities. It offers dynamic, up-to-the-minute user-created emergency notifications of one to several pages that can be activated for display as needed.
“The StrandVision Emergency Schedule is an important addition to any organization’s emergency notification/evacuation communications planning mix,” explains Mike Strand, StrandVision founder and CEO. “The signage can give detailed, location-specific instructions to occupants. It is ideal for fire and tornado drills and evacuations, and can also be used for other non-emergency notifications, such as to announce visiting dignitaries. Administrators have full control to design the required notices and override the normal digital signage display in order to communicate directly with viewers.”
STEPS TO SETUP
Administrators preset emergency notifications in a password-protected area on the StrandVision digital signage console. The notices can be single or multiple, static and/or scrolling text signage pages, as well as graphic images that can include building diagrams and photos. Multiple pages can be created to present a series of instructions and/or information in multiple languages.
Once the announcements have been created, they can be activated over the Internet by any authorized administrator from any location. Secure ID and second-level password protection are part of the package. In less than a minute, says the company, all of the selected screens switch over to the emergency messages mode. The Emergency Schedule notification feature enables organizations to schedule emergency notice displays and then deactivate the notices and return to the normal signage content pages. Since Emergency Schedule can override other signage messages, it has also been used for non-emergency communications.
TARGETED NOTICES
Since StrandVision digital signage is a hosted system that communicates directly with individual signage screens, groups of screens, entire sites, and even multiple locations, administrators can select the screens that carry the emergency notices (based on the groupings that they define within their StrandVision subscription account). Notices can give precise exit instructions for particular locations, display different information to different locations, or activate notices at different times for rolling fire drills or other situations.
SYSTEM OVERRIDE
StrandVision Emergency Introduction content pages can be inserted into the normal page mix to announce upcoming evacuation drills or other anticipated events. Emergency Introduction can also override all of the pages in the normal StrandVision digital signage mix and display only the selected emergency notices. For installations that use audio, attention grabbing sound effects are played with the emergency announcements.
