Business software giant Oracle rolled out version 2 of its Exadata storage server solution last month. Along with the rollout of that solution--a speedy database machine capable of both data warehousing and online transaction processing applications--the company launchd a program that may be of interest to VARs.
The new Exadata Partner Program will roll out over the course of the next several months. Essentially, it empowers Oracle partners to resell Sun Oracle Database Machines and Sun Oracle Exadata Storage Servers. It also provides those partners with other "enablement resources," as Oracle calls them.
Details about the program are available via Oracle's OPN Web portal.
Through the Exadata Partner Program, solution providers and systems integrators are encouraged "to build Oracle Exadata expertise and implementation services around business intelligence, data warehousing, VLDB and OLTP environments," Oracle states in a recent press release. The program will also provide insights for sales within such industries as retail, financial services, communications, healthcare, and public sector segments.
Oracle senior vice president, worldwide channels and alliances, Judson Althoff calls the Sun Oracle Database Machine "an enormous opportunity for Oracle and its partners." The new Exadata Partner Program, he adds, will enable Oracle partners to expand their portfolios and increase "the ecosystem of solutions and services for Oracle Exadata."
As part of the new OPN Specialized Program, Oracle is developing the Oracle Exadata Knowledge Zone with Guided Learning Paths and partner-centric training materials. Those materials are expected to roll out over the next several weeks.
"As we ramp up this program, partners will be able to certify themselves for the Oracle Exadata Specialization in OPN," says Althoff. "This will enable our customers to identify partners that best help them maximize their Oracle Exadata environments."
In order to qualify as for the Exadata Partner Program, resellers must already be enrolled in the Oracle PartnerNetwor (OPN), and hold a valid, full-use distribution agreement for the reselling of Exadata products.
