QuorumSoft, a deduplicating archival provider, is now offering Alike DR, a disaster recovery product for Citrix XenServer production environments. Alike DR is a disaster recovery and deduplication product for backing up mission-critical data to a secondary system.
An addition to QuorumSoft’s flagship product, Alike Standard, Alike DR can vault multiple point-in-time backups offsite and replicate entire virtual machines (VMs) to a secondary XenServer pool. The Alike DR Offsite Recovery module lets users choose the data to vault offsite, making it possible to mix onsite backups with offsite backups. Alike DR Offsite Recovery can back up to a cloud-based server.
In addition to the offsite recovery module, Alike DR includes Enhanced Replicate, a feature that snapshots and transfers virtual disks from one XenServer host to another over a compressed data stream. Enhanced Replicate can replicate a running virtual machine to a secondary system without disrupting operation of the VM.
Alike DR expands the capability of Alike Standard, which was the first deduplicating archival solution to gain Citrix Ready verification because of its compatibility with XenServer.
