The power quality division of Eaton Corp., based in Raleigh, N.C., has added new two to three kilovolt-ampere (kVA) models to its 9PX uninterruptible power system family.
Previously available in five to 11 kVA units, the 9PX product line is designed to be both versatile and efficient. Like their larger cousins, Eaton says, the new devices introduced today can be used in edge network, industrial automation, healthcare, and K-12 environments, among others. They’re also ENERGY STAR rated and offer up to 93 percent power efficiency.
“We’re going to have some of the highest power ratings, if not the highest power ratings, available,” said Eaton product manager David Windsor in an interview with ChannelPro.
Strengths like that, however, are increasingly givens for UPS buyers, he added. What really differentiates Eaton’s 9PX devices is their time- and labor-conserving ease of operation.
“Companies have become very good at optimizing for performance,” Windsor said. “We’re trying to optimize the user.”
To that end, Eaton has equipped its 9PX UPSs with a graphical LCD user interface that displays 13 measurements, 25 settings, and more, as well as a variety of remote management features. Those include the ability to shut down and restart UPSs, reboot the devices that those UPSs protect, and record historical power consumption statistics. Companies that use Eaton’s optional PredictPulse remote monitoring service with their 9PX units also receive proactive notification and prescriptive resolution advice when critical alarms occur.
Integration with Eaton’s Intelligent Power Manager administration software also enables technicians to initiate automatic live migrations of virtual machines protected by 9PX UPSs during power failures via leading virtualization management platforms.
Today’s Eaton product launch follows two others closely. The company added new 1U and 2U models to its ePDU third-generation (G3) rack power distribution portfolio last week and a new set of rack enclosures two weeks before that. All three product groups are designed to work together seamlessly.
