D-Link Rolls Out Cloud-Managed Wi-Fi Solution

Networking solutions provider D-Link launched the DAP-2555 AirPremier N Dual Band PoE Access Point last week. The company is calling its latest innovation “the world’s first business-grade, cloud-managed Wi-Fi solution” built specifically, the company adds, for SMB mobility.

D-Link Rolls Out Cloud-Managed Wi-Fi SolutionThe new AirPremier access point is powered by CloudCommand. It was designed to delivers a Wi-Fi environment with core features at a reduced price. D-Link says the product was created to fill the product gap between non-scalable, consumer-grade Wi-Fi products and complex, extensive enterprise platforms.

“Through a strategic agreement with PowerCloud Systems,” states a D-Link press release submitted to Channel Pro-SMB, the DAP-2555 Access Point “integrates CloudCommand, an online software platform based on patented network virtualization and usable security technologies.”

“D-Link is the first major networking vendor to offer a cloud-based Wi-Fi networking solution,” claims PowerCloud Systems president and CEO Jeff Abramowitz. “For SMBs needing enterprise-grade 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity with enhanced security capabilities across one or multiple locations, this is the most cost-effective solution in the market.”

D-Link president Nick Tidd says his company is excited about the collaboration with PowerCloud System. “Our channel partners are eager to sell this new Wi-Fi solution because it not only meets the needs of their customers, but its integrated service capabilities will deliver better profitability and improved customer relationships,” he adds.

The DAP-2555 Access Point provides SMBs with:

  • Multiple, self-configuring access points that are deployable to single or multiple locations.
  • Remote management.
  • Individual, user†management with two-factor authentication and encryption.
  • Multiple networks management all from a single†interface.
  • Simultaneous configuration of all access points.
  • Statistics and graphic reports.
  • Intrusion detection
  • E-mail and Short Message Service (SMS)†notifications.
  • A guest network with firewall protection.

DAP-2555 AirPremier N Dual Band, PoE Access Point carries an MSRP of $399 and is available through VARs. It includes a one-year CloudCommand subscription.
