D-Link Announces New Features to Line of Smart Managed Gigabit Switches

D-Link’s DGS-1210 Series Will Now Support D-Link’s Popular Surveillance Mode, Simplifying Surveillance Networks and Making Them Run Faster and More Efficiently

†D-Link†announced the addition of new features and enhancements to its best-selling†DGS-1210 Smart Managed Gigabit Switches, including Surveillance Mode graphical user interface (GUI), static routing, dual image, and combo ports. In addition, two new Power over Ethernet (PoE) models have been added to the line – the†DGS-1210-10MP†and the†DGS-1210-28MP†– both with robust PoE budgets ideal for surveillance networks and other demanding PoE applications.

Surveillance Mode is an optional management user interface (UI) that may be used in place of the Standard Mode UI. Surveillance Mode simplifies the configuration of a surveillance network by detecting compatible ONVIF cameras and NVRs and assigning them to a dedicated surveillance VLAN. This UI features a simple, intuitive network topology map that provides users with more information about what is connected to each port, such as the number of devices, device type, IP and MAC addresses, power consumption, link speed, and errors.

The DGS-1210 Series will also support static routing. With static routing, IP routes are manually entered into a routing table, which allows for communication between different user groups in different VLAN segments in a network. The switches can directly handle inter VLAN routing using multiple interfaces, making the network run faster and more efficiently.†

“IP Surveillance networks are one of the most common uses for the DGS-1210 Series switches,” said†Steven Olen, director of product marketing, D-Link Systems. “The addition of new features, including Surveillance Mode UI, makes these switches even more ideal for surveillance applications, while at the same time maintaining a price point that IT and Security professionals can afford.”

In addition to the new feature enhancements to the DGS-1210 Series, D-Link also introduced two new models to the DGS-1210 Series family – the DGS-1210-10MP and the DGS-1210-28MP. Both switches will support robust PoE budgets and include an extensive set of Layer 2 switching and security features. The DGS-1210-10MP supports standards-based IEEE 802.3at PoE across all eight Gigabit ports, with a total PoE budget of 130W. The DGS-1210-28MP supports 802.3at PoE across all twenty-four Gigabit ports, with a total PoE budget of 370W.

More about the DGS-1210 Series Enhancements:

  • Dual Image†Memory†– Allows the user a choice of configuration IDs and firmware image files
  • Combo Ports†– Dual personality Gigabit ports that can be used as either 10/100/1000 copper (RJ45) or 100/1000 optical (SFP)
  • Lifetime Warranty†– Includes Next Business Day (NBD) hardware replacement

Availability

The†DGS-1210-10MP†and†DGS-1210-28MP†models are now available for purchase from any of D-Link’s vast network of channel partners, including value-added resellers, distributors and online retailers.
