CompTIA Honors Eight with Best of Breakway Awards

Winning companies were selected by the 400-plus channel pros attending the organization’s annual Breakaway conference.

CompTIA has honored eight companies for being at the forefront of technology by bestowing upon them the trade association’s 2009 Best of Breakaway awards.

CompTIA presented the awards Wednesday night at Breakaway 2009, an annual event for the North American IT channel. Winners were determined by the voting of more 400 technology resellers and solution providers, all of whom were in attendance of the conference.

Todd Thibodeaux, president and chief executive officer of CompTIA says the organization is “pleased that many of these companies chose Breakaway as a showcase for their products.” He adds, ” On behalf of the worldwide membership of CompTIA, congratulations to the winners of the Best of Breakaway awards as selected by their industry peers and partners. “

The Best of Show award was presented to itControl Solutions of Toronto. The company offers IT service providers a powerful, award-winning managed services solution, itControl Suite.

ClearCenter won the award for Best New Product. Based in Salt Lake City and Toronto, Clear Center provides open service delivery platform tailored to fit the IT needs of small business.

The Best Channel Strategy award was won by Level Platforms of Ottawa. The company provides managed services software for IT solution providers for SMB end customers.

The Best Presentation award went to Motorola Inc. of Schaumburg, Ill. Motorola is a communications leader in broadband communications infrastructure, enterprise mobility, public safety solutions, high-definition video and mobile devices.

Xerox Corp. was presented with the Best Partner Program award. Xerox, of Norwalk, Conn., †is an innovator in document ent and office management solutions.

Cisco Systems Inc. of San Jose wasn’t forgotten. Cisco, a leader in networking for the Internet, received the award for Best Product: Hardware.

Two companies tied for the award for Best Product: Software:

  • Autotask Corp. of East Greenbush, N.Y.–Autotask is a s SaaS provider of hosted service management tools that enable VARs, managed service providers and other IT service professionals to organize, automate, and better manage their businesses.
  • ConnectWise of Tampa, Fla.–ConnectWise is a Web-based professional service automation (PSA) software application designed exclusively for technology consultants, integrators, and developers.

Other awards presented at the Breakaway dinner included the CompTIA Educational Foundation’s Outstanding Leadership Award, presented to Certiport ofAmerican Fork, Utah–Certiport prepares individuals with current and relevant digital skills and credentials for the competitive global workforce–and the CompTIA Services Leadership Award, which went to Doriana Allyn of Brother International. Based in Bridgewater, N.J., Brother International is a provider of products for the home, home office, and office.

Earlier in the day, two awards were presented by the CompTIA Education to Careers (E2C) program. They went to Russell “Kelly’ Campbell of Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield, Mo. and Lansing Community College of Lansing, Mich.
