Acronis Introduces Security Assessment, Awareness Training, and Incident Response Services

Sold under the new Acronis Cyber Services brand, the three offerings are part of a larger effort by Acronis to reinvent itself as a “cyber protection” vendor offering backup and security together rather than backup alone.

In the latest step toward establishing itself as a leader in both security and BDR, Acronis has added three cybersecurity services for MSPs to its expanding solution portfolio.

Sold under the new Acronis Cyber Services brand and available immediately, the new offerings cover end user security awareness training, vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and incident response planning.

“Cyberthreats continue to evolve, which means all companies need to be proactive in their cybersecurity planning and training,” said Acronis CEO Serguei Belossuov in a press statement. “Unfortunately, historically the assessments, best practices and preparedness training have been too costly and complex for anyone other than large enterprises to implement. With the launch of Acronis Cyber Services, we’re making enterprise-grade cyber protection solutions more accessible so every organization can have the easy, efficient and secure cyber protection that’s needed today,”

Named Acronis Security Awareness Training, the new end user training product includes over 900 modules for employees, executives, and IT personnel on topics such as malware, phishing, mobile security, GDPR compliance, and password best practices.

In addition to vulnerability scanning and penetration testing components, Acronis Security Assessment Services assists with remediation planning, follow-up verification, and issue closure to ensure that risks flagged by the system have been resolved or accepted.

Acronis Incident Response Services helps not only with response planning, Acronis says, but digital evidence collection for use in legal proceedings and post-incident analysis as well.

The debut of Acronis Cyber Services comes approximately two months before the anticipated arrival of a new anti-malware and anti-ransomware suite called Total Protect. Both products are part of a larger effort by Acronis to reinvent itself as a “cyber protection” vendor offering backup and security together rather than backup alone.

BDR software maker Carbonite announced a similar intention in February when it acquired security vendor Webroot in a deal valued at $618.5 million. Webroot, like Acronis, offers security awareness training services.

Breach Secure Now is one of several additional vendors offering MSP-oriented awareness training services. Kaseya’s RapidFire Tools unit and Continuum, among others, offer assessment services. Purchasing security training, assessment, and incident response services from a single supplier, Acronis argues, lightens billing, licensing, and relationship management burdens for channel pros.

Providing cyber services to end users alongside security software can help MSPs boost profitability as well, according to Acronis, by reducing successful breaches and ransomware attacks.

The steadily growing Acronis product family includes archiving, cloud storage, and e-discovery systems in addition to security and backup solutions.

Acronis shipped an updated edition of True Image, its personal cyber protection solution, that automatically replicates local backups in the cloud earlier this week.
