Velocity Micro, the premier builder of award winning enthusiast desktops, laptops, high performance computing solutions, and professional workstations announces the immediate availability of the RS line, a new category of workstation desktops powered by AMD processors and optimized for†Film, Studio, Media, and VR content production. The flagship RS1 workstation is powered by up to two AMD Epyc 7601 processors, offering 32 multithreaded cores per chip for a total of 128 processing cores producing render farm performance in a single desktop workstation. The RS2 and RS3 feature AMD Ryzen Threadripper and AMD Ryzen 7 respectively, offering studios and content creators a range of performance to match their specific needs.

“Our history continues to be deeply rooted in building ultra-performance workstation PCs, dating back to our first days in 1992,” said Randy Copeland, President and CEO of Velocity Micro. “The launch of the RS line is an extension of that heritage. We’re excited to be able to leverage AMD’s continued focus on multicore performance and to work with them directly on this project.”

“Powering incredible content produced by artists these machines are aimed it, is a natural step for AMD.† With our latest products unleashing massive power for massive workloads, AMD Studios seeks to be the brand of choice for production houses and artists alike,” said Roy Taylor, CVP of AMD Studios.† “The enthusiasm of our long-time partner, Velocity Micro, to bring these builds to market exemplifies the need for revolutionary products.† The RS configurations not only address current workflow challenges in the industry but also seek to drive disruptive methods for visual effects and VR.† We can’t wait to see the incredible art they produce!”

“Bringing the power of Zen microprocessor architecture to a portfolio of AMD-based workstations, we are proud to work with Velocity Micro as they offer a new line up workstations which solve real workflow issues and allow artists, architects, scientists, and others to be more productive,” said John Morris, General Manager, AMD Workstation Compute Business Unit.

The RS line includes three workstation tiers based on†AMD Epyc, AMD Threadripper, and AMD Ryzen 7, allowing film and studio as well as other content creators to choose the workstation rendering performance they need for their specific projects.

  • RS1 –†Designed for professional level production, the RS1 utilizes two AMD Epyc processors in a workstation form factor for up to 128 total processing cores. When combined with two Radeon Pro graphics cards like the WX9100, the RS1 handles projects of any effect complexity and resolution. Configurations start at $4095.
  • RS2 –†Using a single AMD Ryzen Threadripper processor, the RS2 features 16 physical cores and 32 threads alongside AMD Pro Series graphics, all optimized for peak performance by Velocity Micro’s engineering team. Configurations start at $2999.
  • RS3 –†Studio level rendering power in a small form factor. The RS3 features AMD Ryzen 7 processors and Radeon Pro graphics in a chassis just 13″ tall and 12.5″ deep, perfect for space constrained projects. Configurations start at just $1999.
