A new IDC InfoBrief, sponsored by Intel, puts the personal computer at the center of our digital lives, with the majority of households (97 percent) stating it is their primary computing device dominating more than half (21 hours) of their total weekly compute time. The IDC survey titled, “Exploring Our Digital Dependence,” reveals that consumers love their technology – in particular, the PC – and would choose to give up exercise, sweets, caffeine, cable TV and their cars before giving up their PCs for one week. According to the InfoBrief, PC purchase intent is driven by the following: a desire for the latest and greatest technology, seeing a good price or deal, wanting a speedier device, and/or having an old PC that malfunctions and does not perform well enough to get the job done. Nearly half of Americans intend to upgrade their PC within the next year, and there’s never been a better time to buy with new Intel-powered 2 in 1 devices coming to market. Intel’s Back-to-School Buyer’s Guide features some of the latest 2 in 1 devices and portable All-in-Ones available today.
