Networking innovator TP-LINK has announced that its family of 3G/3.75G Wireless N Routers is now 4G compatible, with such wireless mobile phone carriers as Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. The Portable Battery-Powered Wireless N Router (TL-MR3040) is designed to be an ideal travel companion, enabling up to five devices to access the Internet simultaneously on the 4G mobile network.
The Wireless N Routers for home office networks (TL-MR3220 and TL-MR3420) can now provide 4G mobile Internet as a back up at a home office while DSL or cable service is down.
Mobile users that pair TL-MR 3040 with a 4G USB modem (as opposed to a 4G portable hotspot from a wireless carrier) can save about $20 dollars per month, according to TP-LINK. “Since most carriers also require a minimum of two-year contract, total savings could be up to $480 dollars per contract term,” the company states in a press release submitted to ChannelPro-SMB. “You can avoid extra charges without having to pay for a hotspot contracted through your wireless carrier. Simply purchase your own device and plug in the USB modem stick to create the same mobile hotspot.”
“Since all wireless carriers are selling 4G USB modems now and no longer offering 3G, TP-LINK has made the technology upgrade to ensure 4G compatibility for their users” says Lewis Wu, TP-LINK’s director of sales. “The existing inventory of 3G/3.75G Wireless N Routers is being phased out and the 3G/4G products will be in retail channels beginning November 2012.”
