Mobile platform developer Appcelerator has announced that it is working with Research in Motion (RIM) to “accelerate the creation of BlackBerry 10 applications.”
By leveraging Appcelerator’s growing mobile ecosystem, the relationship between Rim and Appcelerator will include programs to facilitate the creation of BlackBerry 10 apps by Appcelerator’s developers. In addition, the partners will aim to establish additional integrations of Appcelerator’s Titanium platform with cloud-connected apps.
“We are pleased to work with RIM to bring the BlackBerry 10 platform to our ecosystem of developers,” says Appcelerator CEO Jeff Haynie. “The new platform represents a significant opportunity for the 300,000 developers creating apps on Titanium, and we look forward to working with RIM to help ‘stock the shelves’ with new applications for BlackBerry 10 customers.”
RIM, makers of Blackberry products, says the partnership make it easier for SMB customers to “develop or bring existing native applications to multiple mobile platforms.”
“We are pleased to be working with Appcelerator in advance of the launch of BlackBerry 10,” adds Martyn Mallick, RIM’s vice president of global alliances and business development.
Appcelerator’s ecosystem includes hundreds of thousands of mobile developers worldwide who create native, hybrid, and HTML5 mobile web apps for a variety of devices. The company also has hundreds of integration, technology, and training partners who deliver world-class solutions and services to Appcelerator’s Global 1000 customers. In addition, the Appcelerator Open Mobile Marketplace provides modules to extend the Titanium platform to build, connect, test, manage, and analyze mobile apps.
