CRU-DataPort, a data security provider, has launched the new Drive eRazer Ultra, a stand-alone hardware device that erases data from a hard drive. The device erases all data from 3.5″ or 2.5″ IDE/PATA and SATA hard drives. More secure than deleting files, which will not permanently remove information, Drive eRazer Ultra erases the hard drive entirely.
The Drive eRazer Ultra writes over the entire drive with new data, leaving nothing to recover. The easy-to-use device connects to the drive and then the user follows directions on the LCD menu, with no computer required. A USB port is included so that one may preview the drive and verify it is blank upon completion. Drive eRazer Ultra can operate at more than 7GB/min.
Drive eRazer Ultra offers more than 10 preset erase methods, including the Department of Defense sanitization spec, Secure Erase, and quick erase modes. Users can customize erase methods for their own needs. The device identifies areas on a hard drive normally hidden to a computer, and provides multiple erasure scenarios for the user. A printer port is also included to produce a verification label.
Drive eRazer Ultra is shipping at $249.
