Moonblink Communications Bundles EMC and Axis Solutions as an Affordable 'VSaaS' Offering

Wireless and video surveillance solutions distributor Moonblink Communications has announced a new so-called “video surveillance as a service” or VSaaS solution. Leveraging EMC Atmos cloud storage and local network attached storage (NAS) devices from Iomega, the Moonblink VSaaS offering is designed to reduce the upfront hardware investment for SMBs as well as the ongoing maintenance and management costs.

The distributor’s VSaaS offering bundles Moonblink’s video surveillance planning and deployment solutions with Axis network surveillance cameras onsite and encoders and EMC Storage at the data center. According to Moonblink, the offering gives VARs “an ideal solution for businesses that want to deploy IP-based video surveillance cost effectively,” according to a Moonblink press release submitted to Channel Pro-SMB.

The solution is designed to enable the connection of network cameras and encoders to EMC’s storage platforms. This enables SMBs to view video footage from an Internet-connected device. The footage can also be made redundant via an Iomega network storage device for high-resolution local viewing.

†”The need for video surveillance in today’s businesses is greater than ever, but often times the initial hardware expense as well as the ongoing maintenance and upgrade costs are prohibitive to many organizations,” says Daniel Redmond, Moonblink’s vice president of sales and marketing. “Leveraging EMC storage, as well as our longstanding partnership with Axis Communications, we are delivering a hosted video surveillance solution that removes the cost barrier.”

Iomega Corp. president Jonathan Huberman says much the same thing. “Eliminating the need for expensive and complex DVRs, as well as reducing the necessity of elaborate onsite infrastructure for low camera count deployments, gives Moonblink customers a more secure, highly available and cost-effective cloud and local storage solution for their IP-based video surveillance needs,” he says.

The Moonblink VSaaS solution bundles are available now. There are four tiers of pricing for the Moonblink VSaaS bundle, which are based on the amount of data to be stored, the resolution needed, the rate of frames per second (FPS), compression, and the number of days footage needs to be stored.
