Emerson Network Power, an infrastructure provider, has launched the Liebert DSE, a room-based precision cooling system. The product is shipping to select customers in North America, with full production release for all global regions by mid-2012.
Designed for medium to large data centers, the Liebert DSE is more efficient, downflow-only version of the Liebert DS precision system. With an energy-efficient seasonal coefficient of performance (SCOP) of 2.9, the Liebert DSE is 52 percent more efficient than the 2010 ASHRAE 90.1 minimum requirement for data center cooling units. There is also an optional “free cooling” technology feature, EconoPhase. At full capacity, it is 114 percent more efficient than an air economizer.
The Liebert DSE comes with integrated free cooling, using the same refrigerant circuit, coils, and condenser in both economizer and non-economizer modes. The system employs a two-phase refrigerant and the new Liebert condenser platform, the Liebert MC. The Liebert MC features a micro-channel cooling coil design, electronically commutated axial fans, and the ability to communicate with the indoor unit.
The Libert DSE also features the Libert iCOM control system, providing advanced maintenance support.
