Networking hardware manufacturer TRENDnet announced its new market 450 Mbps Wireless N Gaming Adapter to gamers at CES 2011 this week.
The gaming adapter, Model TEW-687GA, networks computers, gaming consoles, televisions, and DVRs to the Internet with 450 Mbps wireless connection speeds.
According to TRENDnet, in-house testing of the TEW-687GA (when paired with a 450 Mbps router, like TRENDnet’s own TEW-691GR) shows the new gaming adapter will “break the infamous 150 Mbps performance barrier.” TRENDnet claims to have also recorded sustained wireless transmission bursts in excess of 200 Mbps.
Setup of the 450 Mbps Wireless N Gaming Adapter is designed to be quick and simple, with no drivers to install and a Gigabit Ethernet port to maintain high-performance wired connections.
The adapter also sports advanced multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna technology. Three spatial streams per antenna generates a maximum theoretical wireless throughput of 450 Mbps.
In addition, Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) integrates other WPS supported wireless adapters at the touch of a button. “Simply press the WPS button on your router, and then press the WPS button on the TEW-687GA,” TRENDnet is telling CES gamers this week.
“TRENDnet was ecstatic to be able to deliver the first ever 450 Mbps wireless n router to market in early June of last year, followed by the first ever 450 Mbps access point last month,” explains TRENDnet CEO and president Pei Huang. “The fact that we are also on pace to launch the very first 450 Mbps wireless N adapter is yet another signal of TRENDnet’s ability to innovate in the wireless networking space.”
The 450 Mbps Wireless N Gaming Adapter, model TEW-687GA, comes with a three-year limited warranty and will be available from TRENDnet’s online and retail partners this month.
The MSRP for the TEW-687GA is U.S. $149.99.
