IBM Looks to Improve SMB BPM

With the addition of two new products and an upgrade to its Blueworks Live platform, IBM is revamping its Business Process Management portfolio.

IBM is touting new software and cloud services this week aimed at accelerating SMB business processes.

IBM Looks to Improve SMB BPM with Blueworks Live UpdateIndeed, the company rolled out two new products and a product upgrade this week to help improve business process management. These products are part of IBM’s Business Process Management portfolio.

BLUEWORKS LIVE GETS AN UPDATE
Blueworks Live brings process documentation together with elements of social networking.

IBM’s Blueworks Live enables employees to employ processes for improving such initiatives as new marketing promotional campaigns, employee on-boarding, and sales quote approvals while also providing a platform for interaction with departmental colleagues. SMB employees and executives can collaborate through a private and secure company work stream via a newly updated Facebook-like stream view. †

With more than 20,000 members and over 200,000 processes already modeled and document, Blueworks Live is broadening its cloud services with the ability to structure and automate ad hoc processes in 90 seconds that businesses currently run over e-mail and attachments.

Blueworks Live offers these things with a cloud subscription starting at $10 per user per month.

WEBSPHERE DECISION SERVER RELEASED
A key to improving business processes is automating decisions in order to streamline process design and execution. To help SMBs do this, IBM is adding a new technology to its Business Rules Management Systems: WebSphere Decision Server.

WebSphere Decision Server †is decision management software aimed at delivering “dynamic marketing promotions and pricing, better fraud detection and prevention, and more refined risk assessments,” according to an IBM press release submitted to EH Publishing.

The new product joins SPSS Decision Management as part of a collection of tools aimed at enabling SMBs to “set up industry-specific data for quick, efficient modeling, providing predictive analytics to business users.”

By combining Business Rules Management technologies with WebSphere Decision Server, states IBM, organizations are able to “detect and react to defined data patterns as they occur.”

WEBSPHERE LOMBARDI EDITION
IBM is also touting its new WebSphere Lombardi Edition as “an easy-to-use business process management offering for building and managing process applications.”

With built-in real-time monitoring and analytics, SMBs can gain visibility throughout their business process management. †

According to IBM, WebSphere Lombardi Edition is suited for business processes that require a “high degree of usage and collaboration.” The company says the product’s shared model architecture “ensures collaboration between business and IT departments.”
