Vizioncore Demos “Early Access” Version of vConverter 5.0

Company shares a free 90-day license with attendees of the Tech-Ed 2010 in New Orleans last week.

Vizioncore Inc. demonstrated physical-to-virtual server conversion with its vConverter 5.e at the Microsoft Tech-Ed 2010 Conference in NewVizioncore Demos Orleans last week.

The ‘e’ designation stands for “early access,” according to Vizioncore. A free 90-day license was shared with attendees in advance of the general availability of vConverter 5.0 expected June 30.†

“Vizioncore is giving administrators the opportunity to use vConverter 5.e as a test bed ahead of the full release,” the company told EH Publishing in a statement. “This early view will give end users an exclusive limited time in which to prepare their virtual environments as well as ascertain what benefits can be gained by transforming their data protection capabilities.”

With support for Microsoft Hyper-V, vConverter 5.e enables physical-to-virtual system conversions. The conversions, in turn, will promote adoption of both Hyper-V and VMware systems.

Physical-to-virtual conversion capabilities enable administrators to safeguard physical systems and data within their virtual infrastructure. vConverter is the first data protection portfolio from Vizioncore to support Hyper-V. Releases of vRanger Pro and vReplicator are due later on in the year.

Some of the benefits available via vConverter 5.e include:

  • Conversion of physical systems into virtual machines
  • Recovery of physical systems from virtual machine images
  • Enabling of physical systems to be converted, protected, replicated, and recovered on either virtual systems or backed up to physical systems
  • Application of image-based data protection to physical systems
  • Unification of protection and recovery of physical and virtual systems
  • Leveraging of virtual infrastructures for physical data protection
  • Enabling of flexible adoption of strategies for virtual servers
  • Facilitation of trouble-shooting of physical systems with virtual infrastructure

vConverter 5.0 will be generally available by June 30.
