Corsair’s Latest PSUs Hit the Market
Companys says its latest Professional Series Gold models are designed for server-grade power train architectures and achieve 80 PLUS GOLD certification.
Corsair told the press this week that its new Professional Series Gold AX1200, AX850, and AX750 modular power supply units (PSUs) achieve an 80 Plus Gold certification.
Corsair vice president of marketing Jim Carlton says the Professional Series Gold range of power supplies have been designed as high-performance PSUs, employing server-grade power train architectures. “By taking a no-compromises attitude to engineering and product development and incorporating server-grade technology,” he says, “we believe we have created some of the most solid and efficient high-wattage power supplies currently on the market.”
In a press release to EH Publishing, Corsair claims its Professional Series Gold power supplies exceed the requirements for 80 Plus Gold certification, “delivering over 90 percent efficiency at 50 percent load when using a 115V AC input.” This would increase over 92 percent efficiency, the company says, when used with the 230V AC voltage input specification in Europe.
Corsair’s new designs employ such technologies as zero voltage switching and zero current switching to eliminate switching losses and reduce EMI. The designs also incorporate individual DC-to-DC voltage regulation for the 3.3V, 5V, and 12V rails. Also, the use of secondary-side synchronous rectification and an advanced 4-layer PCB results in unusually low levels of ripple and noise.
The Corsair Professional Series Gold AX1200, AX850 and AX750 PSUs feature a modular low-profile cable set. The come with a seven-year limited warranty and are backed by a support program.†
