D&H Predicts Trends for FY 2011 Based on Growth in FY 2010
The distributor closes FY 2010 on a high sales note and forecasts the profitable trends for SMB VARs in 2011.
With SMB solutions at the fore, Harrisburg, Pa.-based D&H Distributing announced a nearly 20 percent growth in sales in Fiscal Year 2010, which ended last month. The four fastest-growing categories of FY 2010 were printers, desktop PCs, servers, and VoIP solutions.
The distributor saw double-digit sales growth in of desktop PCs and their accompanying components, which the company attributes to the launch of Microsoft’s Windows 7 OS and the system-wide refreshes it generated.
D&H also says that Microsoft Office 2010 stands to keep the momentum of the PC refresh cycle going, with its cloud-based features, more powerful presentation capabilities, and social networking-related functionality. This, in turn, will spur growth in application software—media applications and presentation technologies, for example—and new form factors such as tablets and slate computing.
Other trends the distributor foresees include VoIP-based desktop videoconferencing systems such as Cisco’s 7985G Unified IP Phone video conferencing equipment, as well as encryption-based storage technologies such as Symantec’s Endpoint Encryption v.7.0 Removable Storage device or IronKey’s encrypted USB drives.
This is in addition to solid expectations for 2010’s ongoing hot-sellers: high-performance notebooks and cost-saving “green” technologies.†
