SmartSource Launches TecDirect for IT Solution Providers
This free, self-service Web site enables resellers to route service requests to 8,000 field technicians across the U.S.
Chicago-based Smart Source Inc., a technical staffing company focused on partnering with IT solution providers, announced the launch of TecDirect. The online, self-service database of 8,000 IT field technicians from nearly every zip code throughout the U.S. helps technology solution providers identify technical professionals that can deliver onsite services to end-user customers.
Unlike other online technical-resource procurement services, solution providers can access the TecDirect database for free and route work orders to field service technicians at no cost. Clients save money while quickly accessing a pool of resources.
TecDirect has already enabled several early-adopter solution providers to quickly address field service requests from customers. “TecDirect is ideal when solution providers have projects that require extra technical resources beyond the bandwidth of their full-time staff,” says SmartSource President Joe Iovinelli. “The service also eliminates procurement costs.”
According to SmartSource, early-adopter clients of TecDirect have found that technicians respond to customers on average within 10 minutes of request submissions. The average service call has cost $150.
“The Web site name, TecDirect, represents our approach of allowing solution providers to work direct-with-the-tech,” says Iovinelli. “The service saves our clients time and money while increasing margins by eliminating sub-contract relationships.”
The launch of TecDirect also means that SmartSource now offers a single solution that includes staff augmentation and project management services to accompany the TecDirect self-service model.
The TecDirect online community currently includes 8,000 technical professionals throughout the U.S. Specific skills that solution providers can access include PC repair, printer repair, equipment installation, troubleshooting, networking, wireless, cabling, and POS system support. Solution providers can also search for professionals with specific skills within geographic areas.
TecDirect is available to solution providers, original equipment manufacturers, systems integrators, hardware VARS, computer service companies, and independent IT firms.
