New CompTIA Exam Measures ‘Basic IT Terminology and Technology’

ITCareerPro is distributing exam vouchers for the new CompTIA Strata †program.
The new CompTIA Strata IT Technology exam measures an individual’s knowledge of basic IT terminology and technology. Examples of skills covered by the exam include setting up a basic PC work station, installing software, identifying compatibility issues, and recognizing and preventing basic security risks.
The CompTIA Strata IT Technology exam is a 60-minute test that includes 70 questions. A passing score of 70 percent or higher is required. Individuals who pass the exam will receive the CompTIA Strata certificate of completion.
Terry Erdle, senior vice president of skills certifications at CompTIA, says the exam covers “basic understanding of PC and networking fundamentals” and is relevant to “a wide range of audiences.”
He adds that some of the people who might find value in earning the certificate include “students looking to gauge their aptitude and interest for IT, prospective employees seeking to demonstrate that they’re ready to enter the IT workforce, or individuals looking to boost their tech savvy.”
