Identity Finder Launches Mac Version

Data protection software maker expands market base with latest upgrade.

Apple’s Mac computers have become increasingly common in today’s workplace. As a result, they are just as likely as any Windows machine to contain insecure customer, employee, or personal data, leaving organizations and individuals using the Apple computers vulnerable to a data breach or identity theft.

With those facts in mind, Identity Finder has announced its new compatibility with Macs.

Identity Finder is software that comprehensively searches computers to help locate personal information. Then, it analyzes that data and provides tools for protecting it.

Over the past few years, over a quarter billion personal information records were exposed, mostly due to insecure data at rest. Sensitive data can be anywhere and is often buried within long-forgotten files and archives. Identity Finder automatically finds personal information and confidential data on computerseven when users/employees don’t know it exists.

Identity Finder presents its findings in easy-to-understand views, with quick access to sophisticated remediation features, enabling users to quickly clean their systems.

Identity Finder also cites complicity standards as a motivator. “A company’s reputation can seriously suffer after a data breach,” the company states. It adds, “Nearly every state has already enacted privacy or data breach laws … Federal and industry regulations (i.e., HIPAA, PCI, Red Flag Rules, 201 CMR 17.00, etc.) also require compliance with privacy standards.”

The new Mac version was launched mid-August 2009. The software carries a price tag of to $9.95 for one computer, $29.97 for three computers.
