Vizioncore Releases vRanger Pro 4.0 DPP
Company cites beta-testing feedback as having contributed to product developments.
Vizioncore Inc., maker of virtualization data protection and management solutions, has announced the general availability of vRanger Pro 4.0 Data Protection Platform (DPP).
According to Vizioncore, the vRanger 4.0 DPP has been re-designed into order to provide reduced backup windows, additional scalability and flexibility and smarter backup options to SMBs, helping them protect the critical data held on virtual machines (VMs).
Many of the latest redesigns came at the feedback of Beta-version users. Vizioncore president and COO Chris Akerberg says response to the product’s Beta release earlier this year was very good. “Literally hundreds of our customers participated in the vRanger Pro 4.0 DPP design and testing cycle,” he says. “This level of community participation validates to us that the market needs the flexibility and advancements we have introduced with the Data Protection Platform. vRanger Pro 4.0 DPP.”
The Data Protection Platform introduces two major architectural innovations.
First, its direct-to-target architecture introduces a plug-n-play modularity system that enables “backup once, recover many” capability over multiple protocols and storage targets. The vRanger Pro 4.0 DPP performs image-level backups and restores at the file- or image-level. The company says that it will also restore at the object-level in the future. These activities are “direct to target,” Vizioncore says, “flowing directly between hosts and targets without the use of a middleware proxy.”
Second, it’s the “Smart Backup Manager” feature of the vRanger Pro 4.0 DPP introduces an intelligent job engine that enables real-time and parallel management of jobs in a scalable manner.
The vRanger Pro 4.0 DPP includes:
- Direct-to-target architecture
- Flexible backup and restore options (full, incremental or differential)
- Instant file-level restore
- Backup and restore to/from SFTP and CIFS repositories
- Smart Backup Manager backups across all ESX hosts
- PowerShell access
- Support of multiple VMware ESX platforms, including vSphere
- Full integration with VMware vCenter and vMotion
