Tech Data Brings Brocade IP Networking Solutions to VARs

Storage networking solutions and IP products can be ordered immediately.

The Advanced Infrastructure Solutions Division (AIS) of Clearwater, Fla.-based Tech Data Corporation says it will provide VARs with access to Brocade high-end service provider and enterprise IP networking solutions, which the vendor acquired last year when it purchased Foundry Networks. The new product line was previously only available direct from the manufacturer. VARs can start ordering products today from Tech Data.

“Tech Data now supports Brocade’s storage networking solutions and its IP networking products,” says Tech Data Senior Vice President and General Manager Advanced Infrastructure Solutions, Pete Peterson. “Brocade’s expanded solutions offering mirrors the converging networking and data center practices we’re seeing among VARs in the channel. It will enable VARs to deliver integrated data center solutions that fulfill the demand for an optimized IT infrastructure by more efficiently managing and directing the flow of data and computing resources.”

By partnering with AIS, Brocade VARs will tap into Tech Data’s networking and data center solutions support. Tech Data offers VARs sales, marketing, business development, and systems engineering support for dozens of leading networking manufacturers. Its broad product offering includes bridges, gateways, routers, switches, security appliances, and management devices, as well as other hardware and accessories like racks, power, cooling and cabling. Through AIS, the distributor provides comprehensive sales support for VARs deploying the latest data center technologies, including servers, storage, advanced management software, and virtualization solutions.

“Through its AIS Division, Tech Data has established the support structure necessary for channel reseller partners to effectively go to market with the latest storage networking and IP networking solutions,” says Barbara Spicek, vice president of worldwide channels at Brocade. “Distribution partners like Tech Data are integral to helping us expand our existing storage networking product distribution model with our new IP networking solutions to channel reseller partners. We selected Tech Data as a distributor because of their foresight for where the storage and IP networking market is heading and their ability to provide the solutions-oriented sales support our partners need.”

Tech Data will support VARs formerly purchasing Foundry products direct, as well as recruit and enable new resellers interested in adding Brocade IP networking solutions to their portfolio of offerings. Brocade resellers will have access to dedicated sales and technical support through Tech Data’s AIS Division as well as other value-added services the distributor provides, including credit, technical training, marketing, and e-business tools.
