Grant Writing Services from Tech Data Help Healthcare and Academic Institutions Secure Cash

The distributor says it arranged for the services so solution providers could better help clients secure grant funding.

IT distributor Tech Data Corp. has added new grant writing and grant tracking services. The distributor’s Healthcare Specialized Business Unit (SBU) has added the services for resellers delivering IT solutions to healthcare providers nationwide.

In order to provide the services, Tech Data partnered with the American Grant Writers’ Association (AGWA) to provide resellers with discounted services, including professional grant writing, reviewing, and coaching.†

The Healthcare SBU also teamed with INPUT, a research firm tracking government spending. The idea, Tech Data says, is to help resellers track government grants for healthcare providers purchasing new IT solutions that reduce costs and improve patient care.

“Helping healthcare providers secure grant funding for IT improvements specified in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is an opportunity for resellers to strengthen their value add while generating incremental product and services revenue,” says Tech Data vice president of government, healthcare and technical services Barb Miller. “However, tracking grants is time consuming and resource intensive, and to consistently and successfully build winning grant proposals takes professional expertise. We partnered with INPUT and AGWA so resellers can still take advantage of this opportunity through a comprehensive grant database and expert grant writing services they can resell to their customers.”

Through Tech Data’s Healthcare SBU, the grant writing and tracking services are available to members of Tech Data’s TechMed Alliance, a group of resellers focused on building and their healthcare IT practices. Resellers can learn more about the TechMed Alliance by visiting Tech Data’s TechMed Web Resource Center.

On behalf of the TechMed Alliance, Tech Data negotiated discounted grant services from AGWA that include:

  • Foundation, State, And Federal Grant Writing Packages–AGWA will write grants on behalf of resellers’ customers tailored to the level of government, agency, or foundation issuing the grant
  • Quarterly Contracts–Resellers can contract with AGWA for long-term grant writing support to benefit larger customers pursuing multiple grant opportunities
  • Grant Coaching–AGWA offers a five-hour grant writing course resellers can utilize for their own staff or resell to their healthcare provider customers
  • Grant Review–AGWA’s experts will review and provide feedback for grants not prepared by its team

TechMed Alliance members interested in learning about grant opportunities their customers may be eligible for can contact the Healthcare SBU’s team of business development representatives. The team aggregates several sources (including the INPUT database) from which it tracks grants on resellers’ behalf. In addition, the Healthcare SBU is proactively matching grant opportunities with TechMed Alliance members as a lead generation service.
