BitTitan has added new, enterprise-grade coexistence features specific to Office 365 tenant migrations to its MigrationWiz solution. The new functionality is designed to give managed service providers and internal IT teams greater flexibility in executing long-term tenant migrations while minimizing the impact of the transition process for end users.
Migrations between Office 365 tenants are common during an acquisition or divestiture where business or individual units are being combined or separated. Due to the sizable nature of these projects, IT professionals and solution providers often choose to migrate end users in batches, meaning users are now split between old and new tenants, creating significant communication challenges. Coexistence is designed to enable the two groups of users to seamlessly communicate for the duration of the migration without data loss, delays, or calendar discrepancies.
“Office 365 tenant migrations are one of our most frequently supported projects, and we wanted to focus our investments and energy into a MigrationWiz scenario that would drive the greatest value for our partners,” said Mark Kirstein, vice president of products for BitTitan, in prepared remarks. “Coexistence is a must-have feature for large, complex tenant moves. It reduces impact to end users and allows them to operate normally while an IT provider facilitates the migration over the course of several weeks or months.”
BitTitan’s coexistence offering consists of the following elements:
- Mail-flow: Also known as mail-routing or email coexistence, this ensures mail is delivered correctly to a user who exists in two or more different messaging systems.
- Free/busy: This feature offers the availability status of individuals within an organization at specific times. The user-status data indicates the time periods when a user is free, busy, tentative, or out-of-office.
- Orchestration engine: This is an adaptation to the familiar MigrationWiz UI that lets IT service providers automate the implementation of the coexistence migration.
Coexistence is available at no extra cost as part of BitTitan’s†User Migration Bundle, a single license to migrate a user’s mailbox, document storage, and personal archives between Office 365 tenants. This bundle also includes DeploymentPro, an automated tool to help IT remotely configure end user Outlook profiles post-migration.
