Seal Shield Makes Gadgets Washable

The company offers waterproof keyboards, mice, and covers for mobile devices.

You spend a lot of time at your desk. You make calls, you do work, and you eat the occasional egg-salad sandwich. You also drink coffee – lots and lots of coffee. Spending so much time at your desk creates the opportunity for an awful lot of mishaps. Once you spill a Big Gulp-style soda on that keyboard, the workplace becomes an unsanitary, sticky mess.

Of course, you could just wash it off. That’s right; stick it under running water and make like it’s high-tech tub time. A company named Seal Shield makes a variety of different washable solutions for your workstation.

Seal Shield currently offers six different types of keyboards: true type, all-in-one, wireless, backlit, silicone, and one for international audiences. Under each of those categories there are several models available. These are just like your standard keyboards, except that each one is waterproof. Some even have washable card readers, touchpads, and antimicrobial protection for when you can’t keep up with the cleanliness. Prices on the keyboards vary by model, but run between $29.99 and $149.99.

If you like to keep that mouse separate (and also clean), the company offers eight different models, which include black and white choices. Ranging from $36.99 to $49.99, all are washable, with options for wireless connectivity, antimicrobial protection, scrolling, and more.

Now, of course, some of you consider a smartphone or tablet to be your major workspace. Seal Shield doesn’t market its own portables, but it can certainly protect yours. The company also makes protective cases and bumpers for the iPad, iPad mini, iPhone 4/5, Kindle Fire, portable keyboards, and even headphones. To keep those pricey portables safe from sticky situations, expect to pay between $29.99 and $129.99.
