PCIe solid-state storage system provider NexGen Storage has joined forces with backup and recovery developer Veeam Software to create a “technology alliance partnership” aimed at providing SMBs with instant virtual machine (VM) restores, faster backups, and offsite replication capabilities for disaster recovery (DR).
The new offering, available to NexGen customers at no additional cost, enables SMBs to replicate data from a NexGen Storage system to any other storage system supported by Veeam Software and protects existing storage system investments.
“NexGen’s solid-state technologies deliver fast VM recovery speeds when combined with Veeam Backup & Replication,” says Rick Hoffman, Veeam’s vice president of worldwide alliances and channels. “We are excited to partner with NexGen Storage to bring these compelling solid-state storage solutions to customers.”
With Veeam’s Virtual Machine-based replication, NexGen customers are able to deploy replication-based failover (same-site or remote-site) for enhanced DR. “Customers can protect existing storage system investments by repurposing aging systems as replication targets,” NexGen states in a press release submitted to Channel Pro-SMB.
In addition, host-based replication offers a simplified, one-step replication process.
NexGen’s n5 Series storage systems deliver PCIe SSD storage with QoS (quality of service) and enable SMB customers to achieve high performance and efficiency.
Meanwhile, Veeam Backup & Replication is designed to provide SMBs with fast, flexible, and reliable recovery of virtualized applications and data for both VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
Veeam Backup & Replication combined with NexGen’s n5 Series storage systems is meant to leverage next generation PCIe SSD storage technology and integrated backup images to enable VM recovery within seconds versus minutes compared with conventional storage solutions. “The combined solution delivers faster backups and more frequent recovery points, and supports superior recovery time objectives and recovery point objectives,” states the NexGen press release.
“Combining NexGen’s PCIe SSD storage system with Veeam’s leading backup and replication capabilities delivers an affordable and easy to manage enterprise-class backup and DR solution for virtualized environments,” says NexGen VP of marketing Chris McCall.
Veeam Backup & Replication will be available with NexGen’s n5 Series storage solutions on Aug. 28, 2012 and will be offered at no additional cost. List pricing for NexGen’s n5 Series systems ranges from $55,000 to $108,000.
