Available through channel partners, the Mimecast App offers SMBs unrestricted mobile inbox and comprehensive mobile search capabilities.
As greater numbers of SMBs embrace remote communications, there is a growing need for cloud-based storage, archiving, and networking solutions. Mimecast is a cloud services company that provides services for Microsoft Exchange and Office 365. It announced major development this week that is likely to hasten its popularity in the SMB space.
Mimecast is now offering archive search capabilities to iPhone business uses. The offering is only available through the company’s channel partners. “By working with the Mimecast partner program, you can instantly expand your portfolio with a set of cloud-based email archiving, continuity, and security services,” states the company in a press release submitted to Channel Pro-SMB. “Becoming a Mimecast partner requires no financial commitment or extensive training burden as we provide full sales and technical support as you transition your customers to the Mimecast service.”
The new iPhone archiving capabilities is part of a larger mobile and cloud strategy on the part of Mimecast. The goal of the cloud services provider is to “offer a more in-office experience to every user who wants to work on their phone.”
Apple recently cited that 91 percent of Fortune 500 companies have either adopted the iPhone within the enterprise, or are testing the device for deployment. With the new Mimecast App, iPhone users gain access to an unrestricted mobile inbox and comprehensive mobile search capabilities, including the ability to search the entire email archive. This search feature enables users to hone in on particular dates, senders, and even content in specific parts of the email such as subject line, attachments, or message headers. The application also presents users with a mobile “Online Inbox,” giving them uninterrupted access to all new and received emails, even when their Exchange service is down.
The new Mimecast iPhone App is free and available now for download from the App Store.
MOBILE ACCESS LICENSING
Also announced this week was Mimecast’s new flexible Mobile Access licensing plan. The plan includes support for Mimecast archive search from iPhone and BlackBerry devices and email continuity for BlackBerry users.
The plan is designed to enable IT managers to give end users access to their email archive service from multiple mobile devices without the cost and complexity of managing multiple licenses for different device types. Mimecast will extend the new licensing plan to other mobile platforms over the coming months, including Windows Mobile and Android devices.
“Our Mobile Access for the iPhone builds on our existing mobile strategy, which enables organizations to increase mobile workforce productivity and agility within a secure environment,” explains Mimecast CEO Peter Bauer. “By extending our Mobile Access offering to the iPhone, and soon to other platforms, enterprises both large and small can give their entire workforce increased flexibility and ensure employees can remain productive, regardless of device or location.”
